There’s so much you can do with canned corn! These sweet, soft kernels can be used for either sweet desserts and meriendas or savory, hunger-busting dishes. Below, we created canned corn recipes that the kids can enjoy aka #pinaSARAP homeschooling treats!

Mini Shrimp Corn Cakes

Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside – here’s a fun canned corn recipe that the kids can munch on while tuned in to their online classes.


  • ½ cup small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil, plus additional for frying
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ pound shrimp, peeled, deveined and finely chopped
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup Mega Prime Quality Cream Style Corn
  • 1 cup Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn
  • 1 large egg, beaten


  1. In a pan over medium high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and cook onion until tender. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Finally, add shrimp and cook until it turns pink. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt and pepper. In a separate medium bowl, mix Mega Prime Quality Cream Style Corn, Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn, egg and cooked shrimp. Stir into dry ingredients until moistened.
  3. In a frying pan, heat ½ cup of oil. In batches, drop corn mixture by rounded tablespoonfuls into oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve with mayo as dipping sauce and enjoy!


Cheesy Ham and Corn Chowder

Kids feeling a bit sluggish for homeschooling? Warm up their bellies with this sweet and savory chowder!


  • 1 pound ham, cubed
  • 2 large potatoes, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 can 425g Mega Prime Quality Cream Style Corn
  • 1 can 425g Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn, drained
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese


  1. In a medium stock pot over medium-high heat, cook and stir ham until browned. Add potatoes, milk, Mega Prime Quality Cream Style Corn, drained Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn, and onion. Cover pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat, uncover pot, and continue simmering for 20-25 minutes until potatoes are tender. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar until melted.
  3. Ladle into small bowls and enjoy!


Fish Fillet with Corn Salsa

If the kids are craving for something hot and filling, serve ‘em this mouthwatering meal!


  • 300g black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can 425g Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn, drained
  • ½ cup Italian salad dressing
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped red bell pepper
  • 4 chicken fillets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


  1. In a medium bowl, mix together black beans, drained Mega Prime Quality Whole Kernel Corn, Italian salad dressing, green onion and bell pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a baking sheet, drizzle fish fillets with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Broil in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Transfer fish to a serving platter and top with the corn salsa. Serve with hot rice and enjoy!
