Here we listed 3 healthier ulam ideas for dinner, adding vegetables, using air fryers or even resorting to classic recipes with an additional touch of flavor. Dinners will surely be more anticipated by family when you don’t compromise on taste and health.

Creamy Tomato Soup

Try this hearty and healthy soup with a little twist added to your typical croutons. These ulam ideas for dinner are a must-try, It’s so comforting and really warms the stomach. The croutons being made into grilled cheese makes this dish much more filling and adds such a twist to the classic tomato soup.

INGREDIENTS:

Serves 4

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves, for garnish
  • To Garnish: Mega Prime Premium Garlic Bits (100g)

FOR THE GRILLED CHEESE CROUTONS

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices white or wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Spread 1/2 tablespoon butter over 1 side of each bread slice. Turn the slices over and top 2 slices with cheddar and place remaining 2 slices of bread on top, buttered sides up. Add sandwich to pan and grill until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side. Let cool for 1 minute and cut into 1-inch cubes.
  • Heat olive oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, red pepper flakes and bay leaf and cook, stirring frequently, until onion is translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Stir in tomatoes and mash, using a potato masher, until broken down into smaller pieces. Stir in heavy cream and brown sugar.
  • Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until slightly thickened, about 8-10 minutes. Remove bay leaves.
  • Puree with an immersion blender. Stir in vegetable broth until heated through, about 2 minutes; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately with “croutons”, garnished with parsley. 

Chicken and Veggie Stir-Fry

Sometimes, we just really crave for some take-out food. We have prepared these ulam ideas for dinner which are so easy to make. Chicken veggie stir fry is a staple when it comes to Chinese food, why not recreate your own Chinese takeout in your very own kitchen. Feel free to mix up the protein or vegetables depending on what you have at hand. Although this recipe calls for a simple sauce, it packs quite the punch which really makes this dish so good.

INGREDIENTS 

for 6 servings

  • 1 lb chicken breast(455 g), cubed
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 lb broccoli florets(455 g)
  • 8 oz/225g of Mega Prime whole mushroom (425 g), sliced
  • 3 tablespoons oil, for frying

SAUCE

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • ⅓ cup reduced sodium soy sauce(80 mL)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup chicken broth(240 mL)
  • ¼ cup flour(30 g)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • In a large pan on medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is hot, add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until cooked through and browned. Remove cooked chicken from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add mushrooms. When  mushrooms start to soften, add broccoli florets and stir-fry until the broccoli is tender. Remove cooked mushrooms and broccoli from the pan and set aside.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and stir until smooth.
  • Return the chicken and vegetables to the saucy pan, stir until heated through.
  • Serve with hot rice or noodles.
  • Enjoy!

Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

No time to prepare dinner? We have these easy and delicious ulam ideas for dinner. It only takes 10 minutes to create a healthier version of the classic fried chicken. If you’re not a fan of honey mustard sauce, you can use ranch dressing instead!  

INGREDIENTS:

Serves 4

  • 1 1/2 lb. chicken tenders
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 c. Mega Prime Choices Bread Crumbs (230g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 c. buttermilk
  • Cooking spray

FOR THE HONEY MUSTARD

  • 1/3 c. mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. hot sauce (optional)
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Season chicken tenders on both sides with salt and pepper. Place flour and bread crumbs in two separate shallow bowls. In a third bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk. Working one at a time, dip chicken in flour, then egg mixture, and finally in bread crumbs, pressing to coat.
  • Working in batches, place chicken tenders in the  basket of the air fryer, being sure to not overcrowd it. Spray the tops of chicken with cooking spray and cook at 400° for 5 minutes. Flip chicken over, spray the tops with more cooking spray and cook 5 minutes more. Repeat with remaining chicken tenders.
  • To Make sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, dijon, and hot sauce, if using. Season with a pinch of salt and a few cracks of black pepper.
  • Serve chicken tenders with honey mustard.
