Chop Suey
When one talks about quick veggie dishes, Chop Suey will always be one of the first few to come to mind! It’s essentially a colorful ensemble of greens, mixed with any meat and bathed in a thick, rich sauce that pairs well with rice or even bread. A vegetable recipe pinoy craving, here’s how you prep chop suey.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 7 pcs. shrimp, cleaned and deveined
- 85g chicken breast, sliced
- 1 ½ cup cauliflower florets
- 1 pc. carrot, julienned or cut into thin slices
- 15 pcs. tsitsaro (snow peas)
- 1 ½ cups cabbage, chopped
- 1 pc. red bell pepper, diced
- 1 pc. green bell pepper, diced
- 12 pcs. quail eggs, boiled
- 1 pc. onion, sliced
- 4 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch, diluted in ½ cup water
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 ½ Tbsp. Mega Prime Oyster Sauce
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
- Heat oil in a wok or pan. Fry shrimp for 1 minute on each side. Set aside after.
- On the same wok or pan, saute onion. Then add garlic and continue sauteing until onion becomes soft. Throw in chicken and stir fry until light brown.
- Stir in soy sauce and oyster sauce. Pour water and let boil. Cover and leave over medium heat for 15 minutes.
- Add vegetables: cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, tsitsaro (snow peas). Toss in cabbage and cook for 5 – 7 minutes before adding pan-fried shrimp back into the pot.
- Season with ground black pepper and add boiled quail eggs and cornstarch solution.
- Stir thoroughly before transferring to a serving plate.
Kangkong and Tofu with Mega Prime Oyster Sauce

Kangkong and Tofu with Mega Prime Oyster Sauce is a quick stir-fry, made rich and tasty thanks to its blend of oyster sauce and chili garlic sauce. Ready in just about 20 minutes, make sure you serve this dish with extra servings of rice.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- A handful of kangkong leaves, rinsed
- 1 pack (350g) of firm tofu
- ¼ cup Mega Prime Oyster Sauce
- 1 onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 Tbsp. chili garlic sauce
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
DIRECTIONS
- Cut kangkong into 3-inch lengths before washing and setting aside.
- Drain tofu from packaging. Carefully pat dry with paper towels before cutting into ½-inch cubes.
- In another bowl, combine oyster sauce, chili garlic sauce, water, sesame oil and cornstarch in a bowl. Set aside.
- Set a pan over medium heat. Cook tofu, spread into a single layer for even cooking. Cook all sides until lightly browned. Remove tofu from the pan and set aside.
- Increase heat from medium to high and add onions to the pan. Cook until soft. Then pour sauce mixture into the pan. Wait for 1 minute or until mixture thickens.
- Add tofu back into the pan and cook for about 1 minute. Make sure to stir regularly. Throw in kangkong leaves and cook for another 1 – 2 minutes or until vegetables start to crisp on the ends.
- Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot.
Beef with Broccoli & Oyster Sauce
Bite into a tender medley of beef and broccoli in a sweet-salty concoction of oyster sauce, soy sauce and spices. Simple and no-fuss, you can prepare and cook this vegetable recipe pinoy favorite in less than 30 minutes! Here’s how.Â
INGREDIENTS
- 500g beef, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 small piece of ginger, bruised and thinly sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- ¼ cup Mega Prime Oyster Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp. water
- ½ tsp. Sugar
- 1 tsp. cornstarch, diluted in 1 Tbsp. cold water
For the marinade
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. Shaoxing wine or Mirin
- 1 tsp. sesame oil
- ½ tsp. cornstarch
- pinch of pepper
DIRECTIONS
- Combine ingredients for marinade. Mix thoroughly before soaking the beef slices into it. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat up to 2 cups of water in a pan and let it boil. Add a teaspoon of the cooking oil and blanch the broccoli florets for about 1 minute or until bright green and tender. Set aside.
- Remove water from the pan and let it dry over medium heat. Pour remaining oil, followed by ginger, garlic and onion. Once the onion has softened, scoop it out, along with the ginger and garlic.
- Fry the marinated beef slices in batches until every piece is evenly-browned. Return broccoli, ginger, garlic and onion back into the pan. Add in Mega Prime Oyster Sauce, 2 Tbsp. water and sugar. Stir and toss until sauce thickens. Make sure all ingredients are well-coated.
- Transfer to a serving plate or bowl and serve with steamed rice.
