Fried Rice with Oyster Sauce: Fun PinaSARAP Recipe Here

Fried Rice PinaSARAP with Oyster Sauce

In a country where rice is a staple in any meal time, it’s easy to get leftovers. And whenever there’s leftover rice, what instantly comes to mind is sinangag. While the good old garlic version is always gladly received, know that there are tasty ways to add more delight to fried rice. Get a quick read about the versatility of the dish, along with an easy recipe for Egg Fried Rice with Oyster Sauce.

Tips for Your Very Own PinaSARAP Fried Rice

While the Chinese eat fried rice as a side, we Filipinos mostly enjoy fried rice as one of the main components of almusal. Technically, sinangag is garlic fried rice. A simple recipe of stir-frying day-old rice in garlic, sinangag is usually paired with dry or fried meat dishes such as bacon, longanisa, hotdog, or tuyo.

The good thing about simple fried rice recipes like sinangag? You can always customize. You can add veggies, chunks of meat, and even sauces! Check out these pinaSARAP tips and suggestions:

What Rice is Nice for Frying?

Most Chinese fried rice recipes typically use jasmine rice for its natural fragrance, as well as how it tends to hold its dryness and its shape while being stir-fried. Locally though, it really doesn’t matter what type of rice you use. What’s more important is that it’s stale and chilled before it’s thrown into a skillet. And this is for good reason, especially when jasmine rice is a little outside of the budget. Freshly-cooked rice can be too wet and frying may just cause it to clump together. When kept in a fridge for a while, rice dries out and tends to have the right texture for dry and maybe even crispy fried rice.

To Butter or Not to Butter?

For fried rice, any oil will do. But using butter ups the flavor while also making everything brown up well! So if you’re feeling a little fancy and craving fried rice that reminds you of those served in Japanese steak houses, switch your oil for scoops of butter!

Don’t Forget Your Greens

Veggies are a great way to add texture and color to your fried rice. And let’s not forget fiber and nutrient content! Whether fresh or frozen, go ahead and mix in some greens into your homemade recipe.

Fry with High Heat

Expert cooks say that it’s best to cook fried rice in high heat. It helps brown the rice and veggies while also preventing rice from steaming rather than frying. Like a bit of crisp to your fried rice? Let the rice brown a bit on the bottom before stirring. Make sure to use a non-stick pan though.

No Wok, No Problem

If you’ve seen Uncle Roger’s videos on fried rice, you’d know that woks are the best in terms of cooking pot for fried rice. But don’t worry if you don’t have one. A skillet will do just fine. What you need to make sure of is its size. Is it big enough for you to be able to toss and mix the rice in?

Fried Rice with Oyster Sauce?

Sinangag does not use any type of sauce. But if you’re feeling a little creative and adventurous, why not? Salty, tangy and savory, soy sauce is a mean sauce for stir-fries. But if you’re up for something different but also pleasantly satisfying, fried rice with oyster sauce may be something that you want to try. Oyster sauce is sweet and salty with umami.
